Franciacorta Shines in Paris: Italy’s Classic Method District Celebrates a Resilient 2025

Amid the elegance and global energy of Wine Paris, Franciacorta reaffirmed its position as one of Italy’s most prestigious sparkling wine denominations.

Defined by Emanuele Rabotti, President of the Franciacorta Consortium, as “the only Italian wine district focused solely on Classic Method sparkling wine,” the appellation brought together 30 wineries to showcase its identity, quality, and international ambition in the French capital.

The presence of Franciacorta in Paris was not merely commercial — it was symbolic. Thirty-five years ago, imagining Franciacorta as a protagonist in France, the historic homeland of traditional method sparkling wine, would have seemed unlikely. Today, the denomination stands confidently on the international stage, engaging both trade professionals and high-level institutional representatives, including Italy’s Ambassador to Paris, Emanuela d’Alessandro, and Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida.

A Celebration Along the Seine

Beyond the exhibition halls of Wine Paris, Franciacorta embraced the glamour of the City of Light with a refined evening event along the Seine. The spotlight was on Satèn, the iconic Franciacorta style known for its silky mousse and refined elegance. Glasses flowed, toasts were raised, and the denomination celebrated not only its wines but its journey of collective growth.

Satèn— produced exclusively with white grapes and lower bottle pressure — has become a stylistic signature of Franciacorta, differentiating it within the global sparkling wine landscape.

2025: Stability in Sales, Strength in Exports

The Paris showcase coincided with the announcement of a broadly positive 2025 performance for the denomination.

According to the Franciacorta Economic Observatory:

  • 18.9 million bottles sold (-1% compared to 2024)
  • Average shelf price stable at €24.45 per bottle
  • Exports up 5.3% year-on-year
  • Exports represent 12.8% of total sales

While overall sales remained virtually stable, the strong export growth signals increasing international recognition and demand.

The stability of the average shelf price at €24.45 confirms Franciacorta’s ability to maintain premium positioning despite broader global pressures on wine consumption.

A Maturing Denomination

For Rabotti, the Paris moment represents more than commercial success. It reflects three decades of strategic evolution, producer cohesion, and consistent quality improvement.

“This highlights the path of growth and maturation undertaken by the denomination and the union of producers over time,” he stated, emphasizing the shared responsibility and vision that have shaped Franciacorta’s international positioning.

Today, Franciacorta is not merely competing — it is asserting its distinct identity in the global Classic Method segment.

Outlook

With steady domestic sales and accelerating exports, Franciacorta appears well positioned for continued international expansion. Its presence in Paris symbolizes both recognition and ambition — a sign that Italy’s premier Classic Method district is increasingly at ease on the world’s most prestigious wine stages.
